A morte e seus ritos são o tema central de Ascensão. A canção inicia com um arranjo de sopros melancólico e solene e, em seguida, faz uma indagação de aparente descrença: “Eu não rezei / qu’eu nem sei rezar / me perguntei / pra quê?”. Aos poucos, a instrumentação grave vai tomando forma e ritmo, e, do terreno lodoso do luto, revela-se uma espiritualidade sincrética e difusa.
Apesar de toda densidade e peso, a sensação é a de que, diante da inevitabilidade da morte, Ascensão nos conta de uma busca de confiança e leveza, para que possamos dançar e flutuar em meio ao adverso.

Death and its rituals are main subject of “Ascensão”. The song starts with a melancholic and solemn woodwind arrangement and then brings a query of apparent disbelief: “Eu não rezei / qu’eu nem sei rezar / me perguntei / pra quê?” (I didn't pray / I don't even know how / I ask myself / what for?). As the music flows a syncretic and diffuse spirituality is revealed.
Despite all the density and weight, the feeling is that, in the face of the inevitability of death, “Ascensão” tells us of a search for confidence and lightness, so that we can dance and float amid the adverse.
